Turns out, the future of health might already be in your inbox. Or at least, it could be—if you’re following the right people.
Sure, healthcare is, er, weird, and often moves between two speeds: glacial or hypersonic. It’s either “please fill out this paper form” or “here’s a peptide shot designed to slow aging.” 😅 I’ve learned the best way to stay on track is to stick close to the people actually building the future—the obsessive operators, curious experts, and founders asking the questions others avoid. They’re the ones shifting what’s possible. And I feel very lucky to call many of them friends.
So, after two decades of playing in this arena, these are the expert-driven newsletters I trust to keep me sharp. It’s how I keep up—and how you can too.
1. 5HT by Derek Flanzraich
5HT is a weekly newsletter reaching 100K subscribers written by yours truly 🙋—I’m a 2x venture-backed founder and advisor to brands like GoodRx, BetterHelp, Midi, and Ro, and I now run Healthyish Content, a premium health content & SEO agency. 5HT is where I share 5 things I feel strongly about so you can live more healthyish—delivered with a sense of humor and zero BS. It’s a mix of personal protocols, product recs, science made simple, and the occasional take that fires up your neurons. Think of it as your weekly dose of serotonin—or, as one reader recently put it, “like a probiotic for your brain.”
2. Ground Truth by Eric Topol
Ground Truths is a weekly newsletter from physician-scientist and author of Super Agers, Eric Topol. I’m obsessed with him. Each week, Topol digs deeeep into what’s real in biology and medicine. “Ground truths” is a term that refers to verified, factual information known to be true through direct observation 🔬 and measurement. Topol brings that same commitment to evidence in his newsletter, breaking down the latest in biology, research, and clinical breakthroughs. Rational, science-forward, and—above all else—grounded.
3. Second Opinion by Chrissy Farr
Second Opinion is a weekly health-tech newsletter by two epic women in the space—Chrissy Farr and Leslie Schrock. Chrissy is the editor-in-chief/CEO and a GP at early-stage healthcare fund Scrub Capital. (I’ve also known Chrissy for years, and she is hands down one of the most impressive women in the industry.) The other side of Second Opinion is Leslie, an entrepreneur, writer, and investor working at the convergence of health and tech. If you’re playing in this arena, this newsletter 📍is where you go for the insider stuff.
4. XO, MU by Melissa Urban
XO, MU is a weekly newsletter from Melissa Urban, Whole30 co-founder and CEO, and a New York Times best-selling author of The Book of Boundaries (among many others). Melissa is one of my absolute favorite people and entrepreneurs, fierce and opinionated in all the best ways. In her newsletter, Urban writes about topics uniquely important to her and anyone navigating their own health commitments. She talks candidly about the hard stuff 💔—from addiction and recovery to divorce and remarriage, and solo parenting to her journey with post-concussion syndrome. Honest, vulnerable, and consistently refreshing.
5. Hospitalogy by Blake Madden
This epic healthcare newsletter is created by friend Blake Madden, a former healthcare consultant and founder of Hospitalogy. Each edition gets into the latest trends across M&A, strategy, finance, and markets in a super digestible way. (Trust me, you’ll eat it up.) Blake’s insights run deep thanks to his background in healthcare consulting (represent!), M&A, and transaction advisory work. I’m into it—and I bet you will be too.
6. Out-of-Pocket by Nikhil Krishnan
OOP is a weekly newsletter by friend Nikhil Krishnan that makes the business of healthcare easy to understand—and it’s hands-down the funniest health newsletter you’ll read. After stints at CB Insights and TrialSpark, Nikhil has made it his personal mission to explain the system in a way that’s accessible, understandable, and entertaining as heck 😂 for anyone who wants to learn how it works. (Oh—and his memez game remains absolutely unmatched 💯.)
7. RBMD Offscript by Robin Berzin
RBMD Offscript is a weekly newsletter from Robin Berzin, M.D., the CEO and founder of Parsley Health and a busy mom of three. Each of her editions delivers actionable, evidence-based health news, tips, and protocols to help you be healthier than ever. I’ve known Robin for a very long time and even had the pleasure of working with her on Parsley, and she’s truly one of the sharpest minds shaping this space. We’ve also swapped insights for our newsletters (!) I wrote her Quick Hits, and she dropped an awesome breakdown on estrogen/longevity for 5HT.
8. The Frontier Psychiatrists by Owen Scott Muir, M.D.
The Frontier Psychiatrists is an award-winning newsletter written by Owen Scott Muir, M.D., covering primarily mental health but really, like, anything he wants to talk about. Owen is a renowned psychiatrist, multiple-time founder, health care executive, forensic consultant, physician-scientist, and strategic advisor. (Translation: this man knows his stuff 💁). He’s also super, super funny and real in a way that cuts to the core of every topic. I’m grateful to work with him some on his latest company, Radial. Oh—and, fun fact, the name “The Frontier Psychiatrist” comes from a song by The Avalanches.
9. Experimental Living by A.J. Jacobs
Experimental Living is a newsletter by A.J. Jacobs, a writer, podcaster, and self-proclaimed human guinea pig. He’s also written four New York Times bestsellers (nbd) and tons of articles born from his many self-improvement experiments. This newsletter is if memoir met humor met science met self-help…where A.J. shares the life-improving wisdom after he undergoes the painful 😖 and embarrassing parts 🫠, so you don’t have to. Relatable and reliably entertaining.
10. GLP-1 Digest by Ashwin Sharma, M.D.
GLP-1 Digest is a newsletter by new friend Ashwin Sharma, M.D., a UK-based doctor who breaks down what’s coming next in the GLP-1 space for founders, operators, and investors in a way that’s thoughtful and deep. This newsletter has been one of my favorite finds of 2025 ⭐. It’s sharp, it’s science-forward, and timely. If you read 5HT, you’ve heard me say GLP-1s are miraculous—and this newsletter helps you make sense of the rapid-fire developments. With new studies and breakthroughs landing almost every week, it’s a must-read to stay ahead.
11. Acute Condition by Olivia Webb Cosloff
Acute Condition is a weekly newsletter by healthcare and policy writer Olivia Webb Cosloff. It’s built around Olivia’s core thesis: Digital health keeps getting pulled back ↩️ into traditional care models—think commoditized telehealth and digital therapeutics priced like pharma—while the truly new stuff, like asynchronous specialty care and click-and-mortar, is only just starting to emerge. Another must-read!
12. A Little Woo by Joanne Schneider Demeireles
A Little Woo is a weekly-ish newsletter by old friend Joanne Schenider Demeireles, a healthcare exec and mom of two. Her background comes from building companies like Flatiron Health, Kindbody, and Oula—and her newsletter comes from navigating her own diagnoses with equal parts data and instinct. Joanne explores how to trust your body in a system that often tells you not to. She’s not afraid to go there—and tell you why. It’s honest, gutsy, and really really good.
13. Longevity Today by Ryan Frankel
Longevity Today is a newsletter by new friend Ryan Frankel, the co-founder and CEO of Workup. A longevity enthusiast, Ryan covers everything from cutting-edge research to innovation to actionable suggestions to boost your healthspan. 15. In Search Of by Julia Klim
In Search Of is a newsletter about the future of health by Julia Klim, former head of partnerships at EQUINOX 💪🏼. In each edition, Julia breaks down what’s real, what’s hype, and what’s worth your time. She brings it out through personal dispatches, product recs, and conversations with the people shaping what’s next. Read this one if you’re curious about how we live, age, and feel—and want good company.
16. Peter Attia M.D. by Peter Attia M.D.
This weekly newsletter comes from one of the OG biohackers, Peter Attia M.D. Peter is the founder of Early Medical, the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity, and a Stanford University School of Medicine alum. His weekly newsletter includes the latest strategies and tactics for increasing your lifespan, healthspan, and well-being. He brands the newsletter as “non-lame,” which is, IMO, a little lame 😆, but the content is solid.
17. The Better Brain Update by Austin Perlmutter M.D.
The Better Brain Update is a newsletter by old friend Dr. Austin Perlmutter, a board-certified internal medicine physician, educator, researcher, and New York Times bestseller. He’s on a mission to help folks like us get our brains unstuck 🧠 for better mental and cognitive health. His focus is on boosting health through better decisions, neuroscience, and lifestyle interventions—and brings all of that into short posts, sweetened with science.
18. Blueprint by Bryan Johnson
Bryan Johnson—aka the guy heavily invested in living forever—also has a newsletter. And it’s really good! As you’d expect, he shares details about his protocol, daily routine, therapies, and everything he’s doing in his quest to age backwards. He’s a founder, biohacker, documentary star, and a frequent mention in my newsletter 🤭. Some of his interventions are a littleee out there (hello, blood swapping), but some (like tracking your HRBS) are surprisingly easy to implement.
19. Fitt Insider by Joe Vennare & team
Fitt Insider is a weekly newsletter exploring the trends shaping the future of fitness and wellness by brother founders (and my friends!) Joe and Anthony Vennare. It’s alsooo my personal go-to resource for the latest intel on today’s wellness economy. They’re often among the first to spot emerging trends, which is why this is one of the few emails I read the second it hits. And if you’ve been a 5HT reader for a while, you know I reference them a zillion times—and if you don’t already know why, you should subscribe ASAP.
20. The Five & One by Jodi Neuhauser & team
The Five & One is a newsletter from 51&, founded by my friend, fellow builder, and investor in women’s health Jodi Neuhauser. 51& was born from a simple truth: Women make up 51% of the population yet are still treated like a “special interest group.” 👎 This newsletter flips that script. Each issue delivers 5 smart takeaways from the world of research, policy, health, wellness, and trends +1 bonus topic. It’s new and necessary.
21. Health Tech Nerds by Kevin O’Leary & team
Health Tech Nerds is a newsletter founded by friend Kevin O’Leary. (No, not the Shark Tank guy.) This Kevin is well known for tinkering in health tech, and this newsletter is absolutely one of the best. Each edition breaks down the major headlines shaping healthcare across business, technology, and policy—plus curated content and resources from across the ecosystem. I’m also a very proud early member of their healthcare community, which is by far the best in the space (and worth every penny). This is how you keep up with the intersection of healthcare and technology.
22. Longer by Anna Poplevina & team
Longer is a weekly newsletter created by entrepreneur, investor, and founder Anna Poplevina. I don’t know her, but I love what she’s doing with Longer. Each edition features the latest longevity research, simplified, so you can stay sharp, energized, and healthy for life and work. It keeps you plugged into longevity, but only takes about five minutes 🖐️ to read!
